Are You Ready For Home Fire Safety?
Preparedness is your family’s best defense against deadly fires. The State Fire Marshal and Ready Ohio encourage Ohioans to learn what to do to prepared for and recover from disasters, including home fires. Practice these fire safety tips:
Install a smoke detector on each level of your home and inside each bedroom.
Test your smoke detectors monthly. Make the first Tuesday of the month "Test Day."
Change the batteries in your smoke detectors twice a year. When you change the time on your clocks, change your batteries.
As part of your family disaster plan, make a home fire escape plan. Every room should have two escape routes. Practice your fire drills.
Sleep with your bedroom doors closed.
